Hilary Mantel and the Assassination of Margaret Thatcher

Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher rather than Thomas Cromwell, willMantel feature in Hilary Mantel’s new book. The collection of 10 short stories, called The Assassination of Margaret Thatcher is to be published in September, well ahead of the much-awaited sequel to Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies. “Where her last two novels explore how modern England was formed , The Assassination of Margaret Thatcher shows us the country we have become,” said Nicholas Pearson, publishing Director at 4th Estate.

No firm publication date has been given for the final in the Oliver Cromwell series with Mantel having warned it “could take decades” although expectations are that it will likely be 2015. The theatrical versions of Wolf Hall and Bring up the Bodies being performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company in England have been earning rave reviews. The plays running concurrently at the RSC’s Swan Theatre at Stratford on Avon.
