Twelve authors from across the Europe have been named as winners of the annual European Union Prize for Literature part of its Creative Europe program supporting the arts. The awards, which carry a Euro5000 prize recognise the best new and emerging authors across the Union and are also part of a push to increase work being translated into English for wider distribution. This year’s winners Austrian author Carolina Schutti; Croatia’s Luka Bekavac; France’s Gaelle Jose; Hungary’s Edina Szoren; Ireland’s Donal Ryan, Italy’s Lorenzo Amurri; Lithuania’s Undine Radzeviciute; Norway’s Ida Hegazi; Poland’s Magadalena Parys; Portuguese’s David Machado; Slovakia’s Svetlana Zuchova and Sweden’s Sara Stridsberg.
